🌍 My Unforgettable Day at the 2023 China-Global Youth Cultural Exchange Camp! 🎉

One of the most memorable experiences I’ve had this summer—joining the 2023 China-Global Youth Cultural Exchange Camp in Beijing! 🇨🇳✨

This amazing event, organized by the China International Culture Association and hosted by the China Cultural International Exchange Center, brought together young people from all over the world—including a super friendly group from St. Margaret College "China Corner" in Malta—to explore the depth and beauty of Chinese culture. And guess what? I was lucky enough to be part of it! 😍

🏯 Morning at the Palace Museum – Dance, Poetry, and Friends!

We kicked off the day on July 4th with a light drizzle cooling down the summer heat—perfect weather for wandering through the magnificent Forbidden City! 🏮

Right away, we got to chat with students from Malta. I talked with them about education systems—did you know that in Malta, compulsory education covers everything from kindergarten to high school, and students have way more freedom in choosing their classes? So cool, right? 🎒📘

We also watched incredible performances from youth representatives from Singapore and Malaysia—their traditional dances were full of energy and color! 💃🕺

And then Mr. Wang Xudong, Director of the Palace Museum, gave a warm speech about how young people are the future of global friendship. I felt so inspired! 🗣️❤️

At lunch, I introduced our Maltese friends to chopstick culture 🥢—and yes, after some funny struggles, they finally mastered the “magic sticks”! We shared laughs and delicious food. Nothing brings people together like a good meal, am I right? 😄

🖼️ Afternoon Deep Dive – Museums and Language Fun!

After exploring the Forbidden City, we had a relaxed break where Martin, a teacher from Malta, started a fun conversation about language. He taught me a cool German word, and I taught him how to say “thank you, ma’am” in Chinese. How awesome is that? 🗣️🌐

We then headed to the National Museum of China 🏛️, where we dived into China’s long and rich history. Walking through those halls with new friends from across the world felt... powerful. We weren’t just learning about culture—we were living it.

🎭 Evening Fun – Shadow Puppetry & New Bonds!

Later, we went to Lao She Teahouse and watched a fascinating performance of Journey to the West shadow puppetry! 🐒🌕 And guess what? We even got to try it ourselves! We jumped on stage, moving the puppets up and down, making them dance and fight—it was hilarious and magical at the same time.

That’s us in the action ↓ (imagine lots of laughter and clumsy but happy hands!)

❤️ Reflections & What’s Next?

The day ended with full hearts and new friendships. I learned so much—not only about Chinese culture but also about Malta, Germany, and other countries. It hit me once again: culture knows no borders. When we share, we grow. When we connect, we build a brighter future. 🌟

The camp continued in Shandong—the land of Confucius—with more activities like seal carving, temple visits, and traditional craft workshops. I wish I could’ve joined that part too!

But most of all, I realized something important: we really are the future. Through events like this, we’re not just making friends—we’re building understanding. And that’s how we keep the flame of human civilization burning bright. 🔥

So here’s to more exchanges, more curiosity, and more global friendships! 🌍✨
